Lounge Doctor Review: Alleviating Swelling in Legs

I have venous insufficiency, lymphedema, and lipedema, all of which cause swelling in my lower body. I bought a Lounge Doctor in 2021 to help elevate my legs and reduce swelling, fatigue, and achiness. Self-care doesn’t always have to be hard work! It has been a great investment.  A vascular surgeon designed the Lounge Doctor. This makes it much more comfortable and effective than balancing your legs on a pile of pillows. It is also better than kicking them up on a wall or headboard.

I know we’ve all done that!

The contoured design precisely aligns your legs to maximize the effect of gravity. To work effectively, you need to order the right size for your height. I’m five-foot-five inches tall, and I’m using a size Medium in the 24-inch width. I was right at the cut-off between Small and Medium. I decided to size up because I planned to use the Lounge Doctor leg rest with my pneumatic pump. Ideally, your feet should barely hang off the end and the contour bump should cradle the back of your knees. Check out the Lounge Doctor size chart here.

I upgraded to the memory foam version of the Lounge Doctor because I knew I’d use it regularly. Here you can see the soft memory foam layer on top of the denser primary layer. I appreciate the memory foam’s gentle support and cooling properties. This was particularly helpful when I was healing from vein ablations, and my legs were sore and painful.

The Lounge Doctor elevating leg rest is covered with soft, yet durable fabric. The bottom has a non-slip grip to keep it in place while you relax. The removable cover makes it easy to keep clean. You can buy replacement covers if you need a total refresh. I haven’t needed to take the cover off my Lounge Doctor in the four years I’ve had mine, but it’s nice to know I can if I need to.

In summary, the Lounge Doctor elevating leg pillow is a great investment in your health. It is also a key part of my self-care routine to manage lower body swelling.
