Unlocking Keto: Benefits of MCT Oil Powder

About six months ago, I added MCT oil powder to my daily routine after years of using only collagen powder. I’ll never go back! I use MCT oil powder in my coffee every morning, as a mid-day pick-me-up, and to make delicious keto desserts. Keto has helped me lose nearly half my body weight and dramatically improve my lipedema symptoms. Perfect Keto Collagen Powder and MCT Oil Powder have been game changers in my keto game.

Why did I need MCT oil powder?

I started using the free Cronometer app to track my macros after hitting a plateau in my weight loss. I quickly realized I was way overeating my protein and undereating fat. I dug into my protein and realized the 2-3 scoops of collagen powder I had every day were adding up fast.

I wasn’t willing to give up my indulgent coffee, so I turned to MCT oil powder. One scoop of my favorite Perfect Keto Collagen has 9g of protein and 3.6g of fat, while Perfect Keto MCT Oil Powder has no protein and 7g of fat. It was exactly what I needed! They both have the same delicious taste (sweetened with stevia) and mix easily with my coffee, so it was a no-brainer.

I still love the benefits of collagen (check out that post), so I mix it. My secret keto coffee recipe is half a scoop of chocolate collagen, half a scoop of salted caramel MCT oil powder, and half an LMNT chocolate caramel electrolyte stick.  This combo has been great for increasing my fat macros and kickstarting weight loss.

What is MCT oil?

MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, which are found naturally in foods like coconut oil. Since it is an oil, you can buy it as a liquid, but I prefer the versatility of the powder.  It makes a great dairy-free creamer.

What are the benefits of MCT oil?

MCT oil is popular for keto lifestyles because it easily converts into ketones! This means it gives you a quick energy boost while also helping your body burn fat for energy. Since ketones are brain food, MCT oil powder also enhances mental clarity.

I keep a container of Perfect Keto MCT Oil Powder at my office desk, specifically for that mid-afternoon slump. I like to mix a scoop into a cup of coffee and quickly snap back. No, it’s not the caffeine! I have been drinking decaf exclusively for nearly two years. The fats also satiate and tide me over through my workout and commute home. The best part is that there is no crash like when you use carbs, sugar, or caffeine for an energy boost.

What makes Perfect Keto MCT Oil Powder different?

I’ve tried a lot of supplements over the years but am a loyal fan of Perfect Keto because they are so committed to clean ingredients. In my opinion, the best MCT oil for keto is Perfect Keto. Their collagen powder and MCT oil powder are all sweetened with stevia – the only sweetener I ever use – and contain only a few ingredients. The only one you might not recognize in the MCT Oil Powder is gum acacia and that’s used to bind it into a powder. As a bonus, that also makes it gentle on your stomach.

One thing you might read about MCT is that it runs through people quickly! Yes, too much MCT oil too quickly can give people diarrhea. If in doubt, start slow! That said, I’ve never had that problem with Perfect Keto.

What flavors does it come in?

Perfect Keto MCT Oil Powder comes in five delicious flavors:

  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Salted Caramel
  • Cinnamon Toast
  • Unflavored

How can I use MCT oil powder in keto recipes?

MCT oil powder mixes beautifully into a range of keto recipes. I’m a big fan of using it for homemade keto ice cream, but you can also make fat bombs with it. The Perfect Keto Cinnamon Toast MCT Oil makes a great dupe for butter pecan ice cream. Trying adding some keto-friendly chocolate chips from Lily’s or Guittard or some keto-friendly sprinkles.
